Kaylie Nelson pushed a strand of dark hair behind her ear, eyes surveying the beach slowly. It was a fairly quiet day, with only a few scattered locals on the sand. She liked it when it was like this, quiet—it was a good time to be reflective. Well, for the most part. Slipping the board shorts off of her hips, she tossed them beside her towel. Kaylie ran a hand through her hair, as she opened the bag that contained her sketchbook. Once again, Kaylie’s eyes browsed the beach several feet away before she rose to her feet abruptly.
“Lindsey, don’t touch that!” She called, walking over to the toddler who was headed towards a clump of seaweed that had found its way to shore. Shaking her head minimally at the small brunette, Kaylie reached down and picked up her daughter. “You hungry, peanut?”
“Uh-huh.” The toddler nodded, blue eyes bright as she swung her legs against her mother. “Pee butta jelly?”
Kaylie laughed softly as she kissed the top of her head. “Yes, sweetie, we’re gonna have peanut butter and jelly.” Setting Lindsey down on the towel, she sat down beside her and reached into the bag, retrieving a few baggies with sandwiches in them. “Ouch!” Kaylie let out a squeak as she felt a ball bounce off of the back of her head.

Travis watched the ball flew over his head. At first he wasn't worried. He never really expected that it was going to turn bad. Until he followed the course of the ball that is. His eyes widened as the ball fall down to someone's head. "Oh sh*t..." he muttered under his breath as he jogged over to where she was.
"I'm so sorry... my friend Jack over there doesn't even know his own strength." he added as he squatted down next to her. Creasing his brows, he looked at the spot where the ball hit her.
"Can I get you ice or somethin'?"
That was it. No more playing volleyball for Jack.

Kaylie rubbed her hand over the back of her neck for a moment, trying to ease the pain away from the volleyball that had unceremoniously made its presence known. Looking up, she noticed a guy that seemed to be close to her age jogging over to her. Kaylie offered a gentle smile to him as he squatted before her, asking if she needed anything.
"Momma ouchie?" Lindsey asked, her small face contorting into a frown as she walked over to her mother.
"No, I don't need anything..." Kaylie spoke to the boy with a soft smile crossing her lips. "The pain is going away..." Glancing at Lindsey she gently eased the child into her lap. "I'm fine, pumpkin." Placing a soft kiss on the top of her head, she glanced back up, noticing how attractive he was as the pain began to ease away. "So, who was winning?" Kaylie inquired after a short pause.

Travis creased his brows as he watched the little girl call her mommy. She was rather young to be a mom. At least that was his opinion.
He couldn't help to let a small smile grace across his lips though. The way they interacted was rather sweet. It wasn't until she asked a question directly at him when he came out of his reverie.
"So, who was winning?"
"Well... judging from that overly bad shot, I think me and Pete are, 'cause that's another point for us." he replied to her. He offered her a smile.
"Hey T! We ain't got all day man. Just ask for a name and number be done with it!."
Travis pressed his lips and rolled his eyes at the rather rude remark. He shook his head and gave her an apologetic smile. "You have to excuse them. They have a bit of a tendency to be jack*sses."
Grabbing the ball, he stood up, turned to look at them and tossed the ball back. "I'll catch up with you guys in a sec." he called out to them before turning back around to face her and her daughter.
"You sure I can't get you anything? I mean it's the least I could do."
