It seemed inappropriate.
The library, of all places. Not, that she didn't like books, or didn't enjoy reading a book or two every now and then, but the library? Lola felt the unfettered bored look dance across her pretty face, her emerald green eyes searching to find a window. Any window. What the hell was she doing in here? She'd taken the wrong turn somewhere. She'd been trying to get to the music room, her notebook tucked firmly in her purse, which was now resting on a lone chair near the table she stood at. She couldn't be lost...
She'd been on campus for two years. There was no way she could be lost. Rolling her eyes at herself, Lola shook her head, a smirk playing over her delicate pink lips, as she turned to pull out another chair, dropping gracefully into it. Reaching for her notebook, she pulled it in front of her, leaving her purse in the other chair, turning sideways to cross one long bare leg over the other, her black skirt reaching mid-thigh, her stiletto boots stopping just below her knee. Her legs weren't necessarily bare, but bare enough to feel the slight chill from the library's air conditioned room.
Lola uncapped her pen, pulling her dark red hair to one side, over her right shoulder, her teeth finding the skin of her bottom lip as her eyes focused on the notebook in front of her. The library was cooler then the rest of this wing, her corsette, black lace top, along with her skirt, doing nothing to provide any warmth to her lithe body at all.

Creasing his brows, Travis took the book out from the shelf. He opened the book and proceeded to walk back towards his table. He had been there for almost two hours, trying to get as much work as he can on this research he was doing for his paper. It wasn't really due for at least three weeks but he wanted to get it done early.
On his way to his table, his attention was caught by a girl who seemed to be staring at her notebook. It was as if she was in a trance or something. Well, it was either that or she was just staring. He really didn't plan on saying anything but somehow, instead of just passing by silently and leaving her be, he had to open his mouth and say something...
"You know, if you stare any longer, you're goin' to burn a hole through it..."

Hearing the masculine voice brought her eyes away from the notebook, lifting them in the direction she'd heard the voice coming from. The corner of her mouth tilted into a slight smirk, her green eyes dancing over his face. "Last time I checked, I wasn't a mutant. Burning hole's through objects would be kinda difficult." She answered, her voice dancing with amusement. Her guilty pleasure. X-Men. Not many people would know that. Hell, no one knew that. But the rare comments she made referring to said comic always left her open for more questions then she necessarily wanted to answer.
But, she didn't think much of it as her focus was entirely on him and not on the words leaving her glossed pink lips.

"Ahhh... an Xmen fan I'm guessin'..." Travis replied to her. He closed the book and held it in his hand. He stood not too far from her and half smiled.
"And it was supposed to be a joke. Granted that it was a lame one. Never really expected that kind of response though. Pretty impressive." he added. Some might go down the rolling of the eyes road or scoffing. Or both. She one the other hand took a rather creative one. Impressive indeed.

"And it was supposed to be a joke. Granted that it was a lame one. Never really expected that kind of response though. Pretty impressive."
Lola tilted her head, her green eyes steady on his face, though wanting to drop elsewhere. It was instinctive. Years of... Well... A part of her was still trained to focus on other parts of the male body and not his eyes. Though, she had to admit, his eyes were very intense. Intriquing... almost. "Just because I'm beautiful doesn't mean I can't be impressive." She tossed back, a teasing lilt in her voice, a smile gracing her pretty lips.
In the back of her mind, she could hear her father's voice. 'Never tell a man you're beautiful. If they don't say it, then you're not.' Hah. Her father's noble standards at work. Lola dropped her emerald green eyes, glancing towards the book he'd set on top of the table, her own notebook currently forgotten for the time being. "What's that?" She inquired, allowing him to divulge her interests for a little while. Hey, it was some entertainment. And she had been getting rather bored.

Travis lofted an eyebrow. He smirked. "And confident too..." he pointed out. Really impressive. Usually the girls he meet were either too self-conscious or not confident at all. But that was back in Sunset Ridge. All of the students there had issues.
"What's that?"
Creasing his brows, he turned to look at the book he was holding. "This is a reference for my paper which is really not due for another three weeks or so..." he replied to her. "It's about ways on how talk to people in different situations. I know sounds boring."

"And confident too..."
A smile dazzled her lips. She couldn't help it. She soaked up compliments as if they were going out of style and whenever she happened to receive one, while still accepting it graciously, she could feel the soft flush creep over her darkened skin.
"It's about ways on how talk to people in different situations. I know sounds boring."
Lofting her eyebrow, she lifted her eyes from the book to look back at him. Cute and smart. Well, well. "I think the boring factor would contribute based on what situation you were in..." She pointed out, uncrossing her legs, only to recross them the opposite way, ignoring how her skirt rose just a fraction of an inch higher on her thighs. Lola hadn't tried to hide the underlying teasing tone in her voice, her eyes watching his reaction, studying his features carefully.

Travis creased his brows slightly. He didn't fail to notice how she said it. Licking his lips, he looked down for a moment before looking back up. He offered her a smile.
"Do you mind?" he firgured to ask. His things weren't going anywhere. She on the other hand, he didn't know when and if he'll "bump" into her again. He wasn't one to pass up an opportunity. Hey, she was gorgeous not to mention witty. Can you blame him?

Lola's teeth met the corner of her bottom lip, tasting the strawberry lip gloss on her own lips. "Do I mind you joining me or testing our own little situation?" She inquired, her hands dropping away from the table to reach her thighs as she slowly leaned back against her chair. Dark red hair spilled over her shoulder, her emerald eyes sparking with quiet interest as she kept her eyes on him. At least he wasn't boring. So far.
Maybe some would say she was forward. Easy. Put out. But Lola was just comfortable. Being her own person. Who she was. She didn't need room for anything else, or anyone else inside her head but herself. So she never let anything bother her. What was the point in being depressed?

Travis laughed softly. "Both?" he stated rather than asked. "But I'm inclining towards that joining you gig rather than testing a point or idea." he added. She wasn't going to be his test subject. No pun intended of course.
"Unless of course you don't want any company..." he said to her. He was hoping that it was okay with her. It wasn't everyday that he mets a girl like her. Although he still couldn't quite figure out how she really is. He was one to learned not to pass judgement to people unless you really know the person. First impressions aren't always right.

Lola shook her head, reaching forward to close her notebook. "No. It looks like my day just got interesting. Have a seat," She offered, reaching for her purse on the chair beside hers, dropping it down on the floor beside her chair. Her hands slid between her thighs, her eyes settling on his face.
"I'm Lola, by the way," She added, reaching one hand towards him. She had her manners, just like anyone else. She may have defied everything else her father had attempted to teach her, but her manners had never been one to fail her.

"Travis." he replied as he sat down and shook her hand. "Lola... that's a rather unique name." he added as he placed the book he was holding on the table in front of him. He never met a girl with that name before. Except for her of course.
A smile adorned his lips. "So what were you working on anyways?" he asked as he nodded towards her notebook. "You looked like you were in a zone or somethin'..."

Lola grinned. "Thanks. It was my mother's middle name." She told him, a proud smile on her lips. She didn't care where her mother had come from or who she had been. She was still her mother and Lola... still missed her from time to time. Even if she'd never known the woman, still, a part of her was inside her. Lola couldn't help but to miss her.
Glancing down at her notebook, she shrugged. "Just this song that I've been working on." She doused out before slapping glancing back at him. Her passion for music was no secret and anyone who knew her would know that music was the love of her life. A part of her had always believed that music could be the only thing that wouldn't hurt her. That could love her, unconditionally because it wouldn't betray or cheat on her. It was...whimsical thinking. But it kept her sane.

Travis whistled. "A musician." he announced. Well sort of. He placed his hands on the table and clasped them together. "What instrument do you play?" he asked her. Sure he had met a few people that were musicians but never one who actually wrote songs.
This was definitely a first.

Lola grinned at his reaction. "The guitar. And the piano. I don't prefer one over the other. And writing lyrics just comes naturally." She answered with a shrug, almost surprised at his quiet interest. Sure, people had been interested before. Even asked her to play or sing something, but that... was private. Lola didn't know if she'd ever publically display her music. Most of it was too personal. Too... deep. And dark, for her to ever put herself out there that much. Even as much as she loved being in the spotlight, that... was probably a bit too much.
